That Gory Animated Movie Ending That Haunts Fans

Among every mature animated films I’ve personally viewed, nothing has lingered in my mind quite like the fear-filled finale of the graphically gory and highly provocative 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, the Spain-based writer-director developed a dark, somber and frequently brutal universe with some tiny , forlorn twinges of optimism.

While Unicorn Wars appears as it stemmed from a desire to advance the medium even more, the director clarified that it was actually a try to convey a universal, multicultural theme about “the shared root of all wars.”

That message is expressed via a group of colorful pastel bears , obviously based on a popular line of lovable characters.

Being raised in a community focused on militarism and the defense industry, a lot of these animals are fixated on slaughtering unicorns, due to a sacred text that tells them they used to be masters of the forest, before these creatures forced them out.

Others did not entirely bought into the propaganda, and choose to try out narcotics or fornicate in the forest.

Unlike their gentle equivalents, these colorful critters display sexual organs and obvious sex drives.

For a particular particularly cruel, cynical bear, the character Bluey, the conflict with unicorns turns into a path to control — and especially to authority above his more tender, more compassionate sibling Tubby.

Bluey is a bully and an obvious sociopath , and when fear overcomes his unit and takes his teammates one by one, he grabs progressively power on his own behalf, in increasingly bloody, damaging approaches.

Meanwhile, these mythical beings are experiencing their own horror, through an expanding, deadly beast in their woods.

“Initially, it appears as a humorous movie,” the filmmaker commented. “But then it turns into a more intense and sad film. And ultimately, it transforms into a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars begins resembling among the whimsical films by a legendary animator, that discover a wicked pleasure in letting cartoon characters curse, shoot each other, or sex each other up.

Then it turns into more akin to a more grim work by that same artist, including ever more graphic violence , a noticeable link to genuine tragedy of battle.

Ultimately, it’s an outright theatrical horror carnage.

The horror that makes the film an ideal spooky-season movie begins well before than one might expect.

The Unicorn Wars is ideal for the devoted fans of gore, for enthusiasts of extreme cinema who want to see something they haven’t ever viewed until now, and can endure a story which delivers absolutely no punches.

Watch it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the conclusion will burrow into your mind and stay with you.
