American-Palestinian Youth Released Following Nine Months in Israel's Custody

A Palestinian-American teenager after completing a nine-month period in Israel's custody without being charged was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 at the time of his arrest this past winter in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing while residing in Florida accused of stone-throwing against settlement residents, allegations he repeatedly contested.

American diplomatic officials applauded Mohammed's liberation.

Currently aged sixteen, required hospitalization upon gaining freedom, relatives told the media.

They said he is pale, underweight, and experiencing medical problems acquired while detained.

In a statement, family spokesperson spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "living a horrific and endless nightmare" over the last nine months.

"At this moment, we're concentrating on providing Mohammed with the immediate medical attention he needs following exposure to mistreatment by authorities and inhumane conditions for months."

US officials said it would continue to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.

{"The Trump Administration considers paramount to ensuring the safety of US citizens"," officials stated.

Several congressional representatives endorsed a document to US authorities and President Donald Trump, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, a father-of-four who runs an ice cream business based in Tampa, previously said Mohammed acknowledged allegations about rock throwing because the soldiers beat him.

There were no visits or communicated with his son since the arrest, and only heard about his son's condition via legal paperwork.

The teenager remained lacking indictment within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.

The facility also contains grown detainees, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences and murder.

There are around 350 Palestinian minors in security custody detained within Israeli facilities, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Many have never been charged along with monitoring agencies, as well as the United Nations, report instances of physical abuse and torture.

Subsequent to his liberation, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting demanding accountability for their family member Sayfollah Musallet.

The dual national youth according to health authorities succumbed to assault by settlement residents during a confrontation during summer.

Initially, the Israeli military said officials were investigating information regarding a civilian was deceased.

The two cousins had worked together within the family's frozen treats establishment based in Florida.

No charges have been filed for the cousin's murder.

"We expect the American government to ensure our family's safety," Mr Kadur said.
